Nitrox 1.8.0.0

Hello everyone!

Imagine this:
We found a release date that worked with most staff and we were getting prepared for it. All of a sudden we got surprised by Unknown Worlds when they announced that they were removing all older version of Subnautica due to a security flaw in Unity. With out plans foiled, we decided to push the big red button.

We are happy to announce that Nitrox 1.8.0.0 will be available on the Nitrox.rux.gg website on the 9’th of October.

This has been a lot of hard work for our volunteer team of coders, donating a lot of their spare time, time that they could have spent on literally anything else. The Nitrox Moderator team would like to give them a big shout out and a pat on the back for a job well done. There will still be things to improve, but this should be a major improvement over Nitrox 1.7.1.0 it will be a whole lot more stable, and you can now use Nuclear reactors and Bio reactors without being afraid of your save file being corrupted, and be on the lookout of the more scarier things that now lurks in the depths.

Some things to mention regarding Nitrox 1.8.0.0 is that it will be possible to now play on Linux. There are however, some caveats with that. Linux is relatively stable, but make sure you take backups from time to time just in case. Creating the MacOS version has been a bit of a struggle as most of our team does not have access to a Mac, so if there are some C# developers out there that also happen to know a lot about how MacOS networking works, feel free to join our team and check out our contribution page on our website to join our team and get a chat with the developers. While the developers have been busy doing their things, we on the Moderation team have been working too! We are doing some changes to our Discord, reorganizing to remove some clutter while also making it more easily accessible. These changes will go into effect on the 8’th of October in preparation for the release.

Guides will be updated as we see the need for them come up, so please bear us while we figure out what you all need help with the most so we can make guides for it.

The Nitrox Moderation team has also poured in many hundreds of hours of work into answering questions and making sure everyone has been safe using our Discord server. From the Developer and Admin team of the Nitrox Discord server, we would like to thank you all for your hard work. It is deeply appreciated.

From the entire Nitrox Team, Developer and Moderation, we hope you have many hours of fun with both old and new friends, and we would like to thank you all for your support and patience, it means the world to us to see how passionate you all are for the Nitrox Project.

Wow, just thought about a mod update after my hiatus to the game and now I read about this! What amazing timing. Thanks a lot. I am looking forward to the fixes

Afraid not. We did a complete rewrite of the mod to make it easier to work with long term and with the engine changes to Subnautica in the “2.0” update it was impossible to get it to work.
